Online Dating - Open minded??

Hi, I'm new to online dating. Signed up to Bumble and Match. I've exchanged texts with a few but never got to meeting up. I'm happy to wait for the right person and am being quite picky.
I'm beginning to learn to read between the lines of the spiel, but, what do men mean when they say open minded? Does it refer to sex? Sorry if I sound a bit dim, but haven't dated for over 30yrs!!!!

Yup, it means open to no strings attached, open to various kinks, open to shagging a married man. ‘Fun’ is also code.

It could also mean they are self conscious about something they think is a physical flaw - scarring, micropenis, morbidly obese, psoriasis, etc

Or they are a tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorist...

So, now I wonder if any sane woman would even consider contacting a man who writes that?!!
Also really annoys me when they write, "not vanilla" !!
Does this appeal to anyone?

I wouldn’t chat to anyone who say they are ‘open minded’ or ‘looking for fun’ unless that’s all you are looking for?

It depends what you want out of dating, I have been dating for years and have probably become quite fussy in what I am looking for, occasionally I will date just for a bit of no strings attached fun but ideally I would like to find a long term partner. I’m quite happy being single so it’s hard to find someone that makes me want to be in a relationship. I have met some great people through online dating, some have been friends for years but I am yet to find ‘the one’.

This. Cringe at "open minded". They'll be the ones that start a message with "how's u" quickly followed by a dick pic 🤢.

yes Open minded normally describes them as being lewd, kinky or morally bankrupt with regards cheating etc.

Non vanilla basically means they don't want normal sex, they want someone who is going to be some sort of oversexed pornstar girlfriend who will give into their every wish of having anal sex, being made to suffocate on their dicks, or doing every single (impossible) position of the karma sutra several times through the night. Sounds exhausting to me. Who the hell has time for all of that.

Yeah, I'd go with pp's definitions - pretty much means they're going to either be kinky or cheating.

It's better they say that and put you off straightaway than you waste your time on them. Some women will also be looking for "open-minded" blokes for similar reasons.
