Am I a monster?

I found out my highly abusive and violent ex partners mum has died. I was quite close to her and she absolutely detested her son.. He treated her abhorrently and was not only ashamed of him but she was terrified. I found out from family members he's apparently distraught..
Am I complete monster for not feeling one ounce of sympathy towards him and wishing it was him that died instead? I'm sad she passed of course.. But i don't believe he's distraught and don't believe he deserves her forgiveness. For context we fled from him and not seen him for a long time. The only contact we have now is via solicitors.
