Want to split but very few friends

I want to leave my 15 year marriage. I have 2 DC. I have 1 close friend, I need to widen this. How do I do it though

Mums groups, exercise classes, cycling, craft. All of course a bit challenging with covid right now, but it won't last forever.

I was in your exact position, but decided a quiet life was better than one stuck with a horrible narcissistic husband. As it turned out, I had a blast, joined a Zumba class, got a dog, got a lodger who is now a life long friend. Joined a cycling group, really just did stuff that I wanted to do.

You can be alone, without being lonely. It's ok, and just requires a shift in mindset. It's also really healthy to enjoy your own company, it'll stop you needing a relationship to just entertain you, and hopefully if you do find a new relationship it will be because they make your life better, not because you're lonely :)

How old are your children, roughly?

Volunteer with one of the COVID groups, you’ll meet good people that way.

Once things go back to normal anything from WI to Meetup, and I second exercise groups - some of my best friends are here.

It was so much easier to meet people without XH - people would drop me to avoid him.

Can you make friends through your work? That's how I meet most new people.

Hi "old school friend" I often think about our times at school. Would love to have a proper catch up but it's bloody hard in these Covid times. Would you like to meet for a walk or a Zoom cup of coffee or something?

@DianaT1969 - yes I have non work chats with one girl from work, I could push on that open door a bit more to develop that friendship to regular meet up. She lives in the next town so cannot just have a quick pop in for a coffee type of thing but she is def an option.

I've started volunteering, I chat to people at the gym (well it's closed but oh well) and I'm friendly with dp's friends partners, on has invited me to join her and her mates on a night out post Covid

You say “Hi! I’ve often wondered how you are over the years. Once lockdown is over do you fancy getting together for a catch up coffee?” I did this exact same thing and she said yes

Be aware that making friends is a long slow process. It can take years to build up solid friendships and there can be a lot of hopes of friendship that fade away to nothing. You just have to keep at it and not get too discouraged.
