How would I leave/separate?

Married 22 years, 3 DC (9, 11, 13). If I wanted to separate neither of us could afford to leave the house, and why should he as its my decision. No spare room, I wouldn't expect him to sleep on sofa, I wouldn't want to sleep on sofa either. I can't go to a friends as I have the children. How would this work ? Anyone been in a similar situation?

Anyone? I'm desperate for some advice. Sat at home wondering how I'm going to get through the day, all say indoors with him.

Would you not sell the house and each buy/ rent your own place if you can’t afford to buy him out ?

Well, at a basic level, either one of you moves out and the other stays with the children (possibly til the youngest turns 18 then selling up) or you both move out and sell the house to set up in new places.

I would say that making decisions based on feelings of guilt is unlikely to lead to good decision-making.

Yes long term but what about short term? I was thinking of a trial separation ahead of any major house selling action. But how would that work in terms of sleeping arrangements with no spare room. We also have a v expensive holiday booked next year (if we can go.- covid), its the only thing he is looking forward to and has been for months, although he could go alone/take a mate i guess
