WhatsApp deleting messages

I sent a message to someone and I really want to delete it but it won’t let me?? The person has messages read off so can’t see if it’s been read but it won’t let me delete it for everyone only me? I’ve even changed the time back so it’s before the time to message was sent as suggested on google but that hasn’t worked, does that mean it’s been read?

thank you, I made the mistake of not turning off the internet on my phone. All deleted now!

Unfortunately op if there were two ticks on the message you sent that has been delivered you can only go back and delete a message that way if there is only one tick . X
