Living in partners flat

Been here 8 months and whatever we do to it it still feels like 'his' flat.
We're thinking of moving (he just wants me to be happy) but it's a nice flat it just doesn't feel like home.
Anyone else feel like this ? Does it get better ?

Are you sure the problem is just the flat, or are you having issues living with him?

8 months isn’t a long time to live somewhere for it to feel like home IMO even if it were somewhere completely new to both of you.

I moved into DH’s flat 14 years ago. It did take a long time to feel like home - it’s not somewhere I would have chosen myself which I think contributed to that - but it did happen eventually. I merged in a lot of my things and decorated early on but it only felt like home when I worked out how to live in it properly. We moved bedrooms and I created usable space that is mine in the hallways. DH would have moved to make me happy but it costs so much to do so (London prices, estate agents and stamp duty are terrifying) so I stuck it out and spent about 5% of what it would have cost to move on making the flat right for both of us.

Stick it out, you’ll get there.

Ugh I’ve been there with an ex. Never felt at home even after years. I always prefer to move into a new spot that’s new to both of us and make it our own.
