I've name changed.
Recently started OLD. Would like advice on messages received and how to answer or if to ignore. (I ignore the complete lack of effort 'Hi's).
A few are great, mention something in photo or bio and easier to reply and chat.
I struggle with even 'Hi, how are you' as generally reply good and something about the day and ask the same back and if they reply with just a good thanks type message it's so difficult to continue.
The 'You're beautiful' type messages, how do you respond? Or are these more a red flag where only interested in how look and looking more for one thing?
Obviously new to it all!

^ message I received today (?)

I wouldn't say 'you're beautiful' is a red flag straight off the bat. "You look sexy" often is though.

Nor would I not respond to 'hi's'. I would look for something on their profile to respond about. If they couldn't keep the flow after that or continued not to make an effort then I'd write them off. But I give ppl a chance first. Maybe they didnt know how to start the convo either.

The 'how are you?' messages, are similar to hi ones. I would normally reply something like 'no complaints, I watched that new Eurovision film earlier so that was fun. How has your day been? You watched anything fun recently?' Just add something in and see if they pick up the flow basically.

I think making the effort is important. But also knowing when to write them off. Of if they they bring everything back to your looks or decor cant carry on a convo after you've given them some help getting started.

Bunnymumy · 11/11/2020 22:15

*or if they cant carry a convo

PnutB · 11/11/2020 22:25

That is a random message 😂

Thank you Bunnymumy, good advice. It is difficult and I should see how they respond to a chattier message.

I've also noticed on one site the people who look almost daily at your profile but don't like or message. It's unnerving but are they hoping you make the 1st move instead?

Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they aren't sure how to start the convo so hope you message first. Or maybe they're just a bit creepy lol.

Don't feel obligated to message someone/reply if you aren't feeling it.
