Dads bods / mums bods

I’ve been seeing lots of. Moments lately from women commenting on how they like them a ‘dad bod ‘ . Even a couple of media articles referring to handsome men with lovely dad bods ( nothing at all wrong with that btw ) , but it occurs to me I’ve never yet read about a man celebrating or living himself a mum’s bod . The media also always talking about how the mums have transformed their mums bods to look just like they are NOT mums bods . Sooooo why so much love and praise for the dads bod yet so much disdain for the mums bod ?

How very true.. .. I myself am not attracted to slim toned male bodies & definitely prefer a man with a bit of timber but absolutely find my own body size 14, 11 stone 5 disgusting to the point that some days like today I wake up & don't want to leave my bed... However I can't blame modern social media for how I feel about myself as I have been like this for over 30 years... I had lost 5 stone to reach my target of 9.5 stone but put 2 back on which at 46 shouldn't be causing me so much distress but it does.. maybe if the media promoted learning to accept & love all bodies rather than shaming women to look like certain ones after 40/50 or you've let yourself go... I'd be a happier person

It’s sad to read that dilly but so true for many women.

Completely agree!
I much prefer a man with a belly and my (middle-aged) age.
And I think older women are so attractive, as are younger women. I'm a size 14 too and I wish my aging was celebrated. I'm getting into sport for the first time ever and I'm rubbish at it and everyone around me is at least 20 years younger but I enjoy using my body in this way.
Mum/older/bigger/thinner/aging bods do need to be celebrated. If we can accept men the way they are, how about bringing it back to ourselves!

Interesting point. I have noticed plenty of men on Tinder etc will say ‘proud owner of a dad bod’, whereas I can’t imagine many women would do the equivalent.

Yes and I wonder how many of these proud owners of dad bods are looking for owners of mum bods or is it something else they are wanting. It seems the double standard comes from both women and men and is strongly reinforced from all aspects of society and media
