Match.com - issues with location filter?

My daughter has asked me to ask MN for some help.

On the recommendation of a friend she has just paid to join Match.com because the friend found her partner on there and said that there were fewer time wasters. She has found it a frustrating experience so far for too main reasons:

The search location thing seems to be broken or she's doing something wrong. Keeps getting matched with people hundreds of miles away.

If anything the men are just as disappointing as places like Hinge and Bumble. If anything she is finding it better on Bumble than Match.com. She not being too picky, just wants some decent photos where you can see their faces and men who say at least something about themselves. Not too much to ask.

Anyone had experience on Match who could help or give their opinion?

Also had two idiots recently. One said she should smile more in her photos (she does and has a lovely smile) and one said she needed more meat on her bones. Obviously she blocked them, but she's a bit down about the whole dating thing now. I know why men do this, but I wonder how men would react if women went around saying that they looked a bit lardy in their photos. Not well, I think.
