I have just ended a 2 year relationship. My ex partner was a good bloke but, had a nasty streak. He had a go at me on my birthday and, being that I have come out of abusive marriage, it shook me up.

He sent this letter an hour later...

Oh Xxx I don't expect a reply but I just needed to say this...I am such a fool..I have really hurt and upset a remarkable person I truly love and am heartbroken. Please accept my apologies and in time if you are able to forgive me and see a future for us, I will be here waiting

You have given me the happiest and best 2 years of my life. I know I am far from perfect and undeserving of your love but I shall always love and cherish you...xxx

Must admit, I am a bit underwhelmed...

Agree that's it a bollocks attempt at hoovering.

Just repeat to yourself: Fuck off, you made me miserable and walk on eggshells for much of those 2 years! And now a letter written a James blunt song after getting advice from a 13 year old girl is supposed to have me running back to you? Ha!

Good blokes don't have nasty streaks. Nasty blokes fake good streaks.

Written LIKE a James blunt song ......

Write back...

"The only regret I have is that I wasted 2 years."

Agreed! This is a classic example of "hoovering" ..look it up.

He’s not a good bloke if he’s got a nasty steak, he’s a nasty bloke.

Stay gone, find an actual good bloke. You don’t need the nasty ones. It will only be a matter of time till he’s nasty again,

You know who he is. You don’t need another abusive relationship. Heed the warning signs, keep him gone.

Mollymolloy · 21/09/2020 21:31

Have just googled ‘hoovering’. You are definitely right there!

‘Good blokes don't have nasty streaks. Nasty blokes fake good streaks’... that is so true!!

How did he upset you on your birthday, OP? My ex had the house valued on my birthday, to try and keep me in my box. After reading the experiences of other MNers, I thought "bring it on". Going NC when the house is sold, a non coercive life awaits. Best wishes.
