Straw Poll: Who makes the children's lunchboxes?

Since DD has started school, DH has been making her lunchboxes. We didn't discuss this - but he makes himself a sandwich for work so it made sense for him to do it. He's been out to buy little bits of ... stuff.. for her to take (I am not really sure what is going on TBH - the contents look fairly random).

When my mother discovered this she says "Oooh you are mean to him! He does ALL the work!"

So who is in charge of the lunchboxes in your house?

me. DH does breakfast, I do lunches.

CappuScreamO · 08/10/2007 21:06

me

but if I can't be tossed I tell dh and he does it

about 70/30 split I'd say

IdrisTheDragon · 08/10/2007 21:06

DS is at pre-school and goes to lunchclub about once a week. I probably do more lunchbox making, but DH does it as well.

NAB3 · 08/10/2007 21:07

Me. School dinners one day a week.

Boco · 08/10/2007 21:07

Same as you MP, - Dp has always made his own lunch, and now he makes dd's at the same time. Not been discussed, it's just the way it is.

ChippyMinton · 08/10/2007 21:07

DH

Actually he promised me that he would make the lunchboxes if I agreed to have his children - I have a signed note somewhere to prove it.

I sound bonkers , but I promise it is true

marymoocow · 08/10/2007 21:07

dh makes the sandwiches (when he makes his own), then I put the drinks in and all the other stuff later. Seems to work well that way

WideWebWitch · 08/10/2007 21:07

Ds does his own but when he was younger dh and I took it in turns to do it for all 3 of us. Now we all do our own, much better.

dinny · 08/10/2007 21:07

me - do it at breakfast

actually, may start a thread asking WHAT goes on packed lunch - need inspiration!

morningpaper · 08/10/2007 21:08

An essential clause in any pre-nup!

CappuScreamO · 08/10/2007 21:10

I wish dh would take a lunch

sometimes he forgets to eat and then he comes home in a mood

I did buy him an action man lunchbox once and packed it with a nice orangey drink in the little flask

I found it still full 6 months later in his drawer (I work for him)

it was moving, I swear

doggiesayswoof · 08/10/2007 21:10

DH. He also does breakfasts - I am a bit useless first thing and he is usually up before me. We didn't discuss it either.

Dh under the watchful eye of dd lol

TheQueenOfQuotes · 08/10/2007 21:13

me - but only because DH is still getting up in the night with DS3 and therefore is still in bed. I currently get all 3 DS's up and ready in the mornings, although once DS3 is sleeping through properly we'll go back to alternate days so he'll do it half the time.

ScaryMonsterStories · 08/10/2007 21:14

We have a rule.

One person puts DTDs to bed
The other puts DD3 to bed and does lunchboxes.

We alternate the roles

In other words we take it in turns.

ChippyMinton · 08/10/2007 21:14

DS2 has just started in Reception and is taking a keen interest in the contents, much to DH's annoyance.

mrsmerton · 08/10/2007 21:14

I used to do it. Handed lunch box baton over to Dh a LONG time ago. (But occasionally stick my nose in to make sure they're not just getting a jam sarnie and a milky way) He has 3 to make a day!!

ScaryMonsterStories · 08/10/2007 21:14

Oh and we do lunchboxes in teh evening.

Dinosaur · 08/10/2007 21:14

DH always does them.

WideWebWitch · 08/10/2007 21:15

Posted this on other thread but someone here might find it useful, ds offered me a FIVER to do his lunch last night. So I took it.

NotAnOtter · 08/10/2007 21:16
