I have had a migraine since 3 days now. It has radiated to the left side at the back of my head. It is excruciating pain and making me vomit. I am also having on and off chest pains. Is this normal. I am 8 weeks and 4 days pregnant

You need to ring a doctor right away . Or go to hospital that's not normal

ittakes2 · 12/09/2020 10:07

You clearly have something wrong with you - you are having chest pains so you must call an ambulance or in the very least get someone to take you to A&E. The ambulance service wants people with chest pains to call so don’t feel you are wasting their time as you are not.

babymum786 · 12/09/2020 10:58

I checked my blood pressure. It is 92 and heart rate is 63. I rung the GP yesterday and told him about my migraine. He advised i take codeine and cyclizine to stop my vomiting. I have been taking this but it hasn't helped.

It's probably nothing major but could be serious, call the doctor again or 111. xx Feel better soon. x

justilou1 · 12/09/2020 11:40

You need to go to the hospital. This is too long for a migraine, op.

HereForTheFeminismChat · 12/09/2020 12:38

Migraines can be triggered by hormonal changes in women, so it would not surprise me if there could be a hormone-related cause here. Given you've been feeling poorly for a few days, and your GP's suggestions did not help, I would head to A&E. They can provide a proper diagnosis, and give you some better medicine to help with the pain and vomiting. I imagine you are exhausted and dehydrated by this stage.

Appleofmyeye05 · 12/09/2020 12:44

I use to get terrible headaches when pregnant, hope it passes soon

sapnupuas · 12/09/2020 12:50

Get some frozen peas on your head.

Blushingm · 12/09/2020 13:23

That isn't a BP reading. Call GP

FrankRattlesnake · 12/09/2020 13:42

I’ve been to a&e with a migraine- unintentionally (I was going to see out of hours drs but they had gone to a more serious patient and told me to go to a&e).

My migraine had changed from previous ones. They took bloods and actually admitted me to see a consultant, and I was eventually discharged and saw a neurologist.

Given how long you’ve had it and that it’s not typical migraine symptoms I would absolutely go to a&e and that before adding on your pregnancy.

babymum786 · 12/09/2020 14:52

The migraine has slightly eased down. However, i am having heart palpitations and shortness of breath. My husband isn't home, he is out of city today. Really struggling to get medical help. Thanks everyone for your replies and advice

You need medical attention. Your H needs to come home. Please call a taxi and go to A & E.

Eileithyiaa · 12/09/2020 15:20

Similar happened to me, thought it was a migraine but transpired I had viral meningitis, please go to A&E x

Albustydumbledore · 12/09/2020 15:24

If you have chest pain you need to go straight to A&E and tell them.
Tell them you are pregnant and you have chest pain. Straight away. If you can't get there please call 999 for an ambulance now.

Not at all meant to scaremonger you but don't want to mince my words or give false reassurance.

I am a medical professional. Please call/go now.

Aerial2020 · 12/09/2020 15:24

A migraine can last a few days but with the chest pains as well that is concerning, ring out of hours and get medical advice. Esp if pregnant.

Albustydumbledore · 12/09/2020 15:25

Also make sure you mention shortness of breath.

Albustydumbledore · 12/09/2020 15:27

Call 999 first and your H second. I know that goes against what might feel practical but that's the right order lovely.

babymum786 · 12/09/2020 15:28

I will do thank you. My blood pressure reading is 80 sys/52 dias

Albustydumbledore · 12/09/2020 15:31

Get yourself to the hospital lovely. Fingers crossed it's a wasted journey but you need to go and have a check over x

babymum786 · 12/09/2020 20:19

Are pregnant women given priority in a&e? Or will i have to wait hours to be seen?

OP posts:
Windmillwhirl · 12/09/2020 20:25

Your BP is low. Just go. With all your symptoms what is stopping you?

Fast90 · 12/09/2020 20:32

Hi OP, I’m a nurse. You really do need to go to A& E and be seen as soon as possible. It wouldn’t be unreasonable to call 999 in your circumstance.

Please, seek help immediately

DisgruntledPelican · 12/09/2020 20:35

You’ll be seen based on the priority they assign you after your symptoms are described. Does it matter? If you’re seriously ill then you won’t have to wait for hours.

babymum786 · 12/09/2020 23:03

I am at the hospital waiting to be assessed. Will keep you all updated x
