Was this rude?

I really need another perspective here; I met a guy this afternoon I’d come into contact with on OLD and I mentioned I’m away this weekend and he piped up “we could have gone to the cinema this weekend but you are going to York”, without offering next weekend. I’m so shocked these guys I meet have zero plans constantly. Sorry if this seems like a whinge, just need a good dose of reality.

I can’t see what the problem is.

Justcallmebebes · 11/09/2020 20:48

Confused as to what was rude

KurriKawari · 11/09/2020 20:55

Is your moan that he doesn't have weekend plans and you do?

UnfinishedSymphon · 11/09/2020 20:56

Eh?

pooopypants · 11/09/2020 20:56

Maybe HE has plans next weekend

I'm confused as to what was rude though.

MagentaRocks · 11/09/2020 21:00

I don’t get it.

CorianderLord · 11/09/2020 21:31

Nah he was making a point, trying to make out like she was wrong for being away...

SoulofanAggron · 11/09/2020 21:45

he piped up “we could have gone to the cinema this weekend but you are going to York”, without offering next weekend.

Maybe he was waiting for you to say that next weekend was a possibility? I.e. he had said 'ooh we could've gone to the pictures,' you were supposed to reply 'how about next weekend?'

He does sound a bit needy, though.

Elieza · 11/09/2020 21:47

Was he hoping for an invite to York? Sounds like it.

There is a really good museum I particularly enjoyed there... (nostalgic sigh).

Nah he was making a point, trying to make out like she was wrong for being away..

Yes. He was. He was likely hoping she would drop her plans for him.

gettingfedupagain · 11/09/2020 22:36

He was being passive aggressive, he's annoyed that you're not available this weekend so he's trying to make you regret going away because he can't verbalise his emotions clearly (or can't recognise that this emotion is unreasonable and control it)

AnneLovesGilbert · 11/09/2020 22:43

Huh?
