Refer to your partner as a part of your family?

My partner of 14 years is my family we have a child each, teen and adult love our family and the rest of our family see no difference a piece of paper doesn't make them family what he has done for us/me counts more .

When the DTwatCats started treating him as part of the furniture.

Once they saw him as a fixture or fitting, it was a short time after that he proposed. So about 3 years.
