Any online dating success stories?

I'd love to hear them. I was recently dumped and, at 32, am feeling a little anxious about what dating will be like now I'm no longer in my twenties. Realistically I know it is going to involve a fair bit of OLD. I always feel like it's quite unromantic, so I'd love to hear stories of people who feel they have met the love of their life OLD and gone on to have families etc together? Thank you Thanks

@bookworm100 I don't have any success stories as yet, but I'd just like to add. I've meet some really wonderful people through tinder. Haven't had a bad date yet (touch wood) I think if you go into it with your eyes wide open, a pinch of salt and just looking at it as a great way to make new friends (some might grow into something more) than it can be wonderful! That's just where I'm at.

I too met my now fiance on tinder.

Swiped for a few people. Not always great. Decided to unfriend or whatever. Looked at my fiance's profile and thought, if he asked to meet up I'd love to go!

He asked within a week. Best first date ever. Hes now snoring in bed and we live together!

I met my partner on OLD. I sort of realised that if i wanted something to change then i needed to put in some effort to meet new people.

I think a lot of the stigma comes from when it was unusual for people to meet on platforms like that but now its so widely used that theres a wide range of people there. I dont think theres anymore likely to be weirdos then another form of dating, eg speed dating or if you hung around in a coffee shop talking to people. I cant judge as after all sensible people like me, op and all the other posters on this thread are there!

I would love to have a more romantic story as how we first met but we would have never met in real life. We lived in different areas, worked in different fields with very separate groups of friends and a slight age difference

Our paths would have never have crossed, and even if they did neither of us are the type to a) chat someone up in a coffee shop or b) react well to someone chatting us up in public. Online dating means theres no awkward "are they just being friendly or should i go over and say hi" "why is this person talking to me". Youre both on the same page and as someone thats chronically socially awkward and anxious that really helped

10/10 would recommend as very happy with the outcome!

Oh also..
I had some weird first time dates (often in hindsight i was the weird one)

My first date was one where there was no "spark", the person was very very diffferent than me. We just werent on the same page. However it was the most liberating thing as even though it went nowhere, i had a good evening! I suddenly had an ephinany that sometimes it goes wrong, but actually it was okay. No one laughed at me, the night wasnt awful and it gave me the real confidence to carry on. I'll always be greatful for that date.

After that i had a whole range of 6ish dates from short intense relationships to ones where we went home together and never called again, to ones where my date was physically sick on the date due to bad food, to me forgetting any form of money and having to get my date to pay for my taxi.

I met plenty of people who werent my cup of tea, but all in all people were kind, and i had lots of fun. Theres was no horrible dates and it really helped me get over my fear of dates.

A friend of mine runs a mobile disco business so does a lot of weddings. The MAJORITY of couples he works for met on some form of on-line platform.
2 years after my own divorce i tried OLD last year. I've had some nice dates - some weird conversations, been ghosted, and a few dead end dates but over-all I've had fun. Have now been dating a lovely guy I met on Bumble for just over 6 months so early days but things are going wonderfully so far. Good luck.

I met my partner just over a year ago on Tinder. Best relationship I’ve ever had and I would marry her tomorrow if she asked.

Dumped at 32, met my partner at 34 on pof. 38 now and two kids and very happy. I went on a lot of dates and by the time I met him I gave zero time to men who weren't serious or I got a bad feeling about.

Separated from exh at 45 and have done 2 stints of OLD, it was fine. One guy I messaged with didn't get a joke I made and wrote me a big long essay chiding me as if I was a naughty schoolgirl, another sounded like he thought women were all out to get him - both easily ignored, we never exchanged details or anything, and that was the "worst" I experienced; not even a dick pic for me.

The people I did meet seemed fine - though I wasn't looking for anything long-term, having just been married for years, so was open to men that others would reject as unserious! The first guy I dated was a lot of fun, but a serial OLD dater I would say Grin

That was kind of also the plan with the second guy I dated, but he turned out to be nicer and more interesting than expected; no idea where it might lead but it's been great. We live in different parts of town, have a different circle of friends and I'd never have bumped into him in real life, so I'm a big fan of OLD.

One of my friends met a man OLD, and had a fairytale romance! So I tried when I split up with my ex-husband. Met a few weirdos but then met a lovely man and been together nearly 7 years.
