Dealbreaker?

I passed a care home earlier and I heard a lot of shouting and commotion that gave me cause for concern and I waited about to check everything seemed okay inside. I mentioned this to my DP and he said he "couldn't care less about anyone in a care home". I work in social care.

What a cold, creepy thing to say. I would be looking at him in a whole new light. Is he apathetic about other issues as well?

People can shout in care homes if the have dementia, challenging behaviour or mental health issues. So they aren't necessarily being mistreated. But it's good to be concerned. It's very callous that your dp was basically like I don't give a shit if people are being mistreated.

Does he work for the present government? They have this attitude.

@username501 Boris would show concern for the elderly a fair bit I reckon, as they're more likely to vote for him.

It sounds very harsh - maybe it was a very misguided attempt at humour? It's difficult to know if it's a deal-breaker as none of us know what he's like as a person. Have you been together long? You are in a better position to judge than any of us are.
