If you were completely alone in life, what would get you out of bed in the mornings?

If you had no family, children or friends in your life what would be the thing that kept you going, made you want to get up in the morning etc?

RunningFromInsanity · 08/08/2020 20:39

Needing the loo probably

Tartyflette · 08/08/2020 20:39

Coffee. And food.

RunningFromInsanity · 08/08/2020 20:40

For a serious answer - the belief that you can change your life, make friends, meet people. But not from your bed.

Slugslasher · 08/08/2020 20:40

The garden.

category12 · 08/08/2020 20:50

What else is there? The alternative to getting up ain't great, is it?

ZigZagPlant · 08/08/2020 20:52

Work?

jmh740 · 08/08/2020 20:52

My bladder

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 08/08/2020 20:52

Well I used to be this person and it was my lovely dog that kept me going.

Passmethecrisps · 08/08/2020 20:53

It’s hard to answer from my current perspective. Now I would coory under the covers and read and waste time until I was bursting for a wee.

Before children I would get up to run, go the the gym, work (still do obviously) garden etc.

Before kids I regularly slept until 10 though.

WitsEnding · 08/08/2020 20:55

None of the above live with me or require me first thing in the morning. It’s all about enjoying being up and about more than being in bed - that includes breakfast, shower etc

PerkingFaintly · 08/08/2020 21:11

This is my life exactly. I don't even have a religion ordering me about or giving me meaning.

I just have to invent meaning for myself each day. It can be hard work to live without other people validating you – or even acknowledging your existence a lot of the time.

But you know, you crack on. It's very doable, if less rewarding than a life with people and relationships.

A pet.

threesecrets · 08/08/2020 21:17

Baking. And knowing that no one is going to tell me what to do or make me feel like shit in my own house

fwwaftp · 08/08/2020 21:19

Pet banging on the door wanting food.

Summerdayss21 · 08/08/2020 21:22

The damn cat wanting breakfast

LoganberryOakley2 · 08/08/2020 21:25

It would have to be work. Even if it's voluntary, I need structure. Otherwise I would sleep, daydream and possibly mumsnet my way through life turning slowly into a moody, judgemental old bat who thought I knew the answer to everything. I've not been working very much lately and its a struggle to stay motivated. I think I would end up depressed without it.

I like rotas and schedules because I get the work done and then I enjoy the time after. Even when I'm retired I will do something similar.
