Would you date a newly widowed man?

Even if he had been separated for some years but not amicable ?
I fear that there would be much grieving and complication for some time.
Would you leave it for now. There are children involved .
Thanks.

I think his focus should be on the kids right now, and any new serious relationship when he’s still full of regrets would be a rebound. As for the kids, well, even if he wasn’t widowed it’s not like any responsible parent would introduce their DP immediately; that would take easily upwards of a year.

His kids have been with him. They had accessyhrough her mother up to that point.

Why would you even think about being with someone who is shocked, distraught, can’t focus on a relationship.....what’s the point? What would you get out of it?

Raise your standards a bit.

so the children weren't living with either parent before the mother died?

MadeForThis · 09/08/2020 23:55

The children have just lost their mother. They need their dad.

Now is not the time for a new relationship.

How did his exw die? Was it sudden or expected? It is an unusual relationship to a divorce. DC's have to come first, even when they are older. They've lost their mum, it's a massive, significant loss in their lives.
