Been reading so much about men valuing youth in women whereas men being valued for things that come with age such as life experience , wisdom and such and feeling disheartened . Heard recently on a psychology programme about a study on gender and ageism that talked about how women lose out in the dating game due to men placing higher value in youthful appearance and less value on the ‘positive attributes associated with age ‘ unfortunately both mine and friends experiences with dating as mature women seem to confirm this .
I’ve been wondering about the term silver fox that I hear used to describe attractive and desirable men a fair bit and am wondering if anyone knows of a similar term for older women. I know cougar is sometimes used to describe older women but that term seems very different in that cougars are are predatory and seek out men . Also there’s an element of them being desired for sexual encounters mainly . Does anyone heard of older women being described in a more positive light similar perhaps to the male term silver foxes , where they might be seen as desirable to men their age as long term partners.
I guess I’m just feeling down and wondering if attitudes towards older women are going to change or are changing in the dating arena
