Meeting bf’s kids tomorrow

Been with bf for 18 months and meeting his kids (6 and 4) for first time tomorrow. He’s bringing them over for lunch (he’s bringing their favourite pizza and juice) and a play in my garden (yes - it’s large so social distancing is easy). My kids who are early teens will be there too - they have met my bf a few times before. Any tips on what to do/not to do greatly appreciated. It’s a very big deal for me and I want it to all go smoothly. Thx in advance

Good luck for today! You sound super lovely!

Good luck. I'd have a plan B if the weather is like it is here and a garden wouldn't work!

Do you know their interests? Usually the latest cbeebies programme or Disney film. For my lo, knowing that may get my lo talking...

Thank you. Yes they love lego and thankfully I have a tonne in the attic. Think they are Happy to be out no matter what the weather so I’m just prepared to get wet if necessary. Fingers crossed it clears up though

Ah this sounds fab. You've waited for a long time to meet them, you sound lovely, as do your kids so I hope you all have a great day! It's great you have the mums blessing too.

@toobusytothink

How did it go?

Notcoolmum · 05/07/2020 15:39

I've been wondering too. I've seen my BF's kid a couple of times this weekend too. Still early days but we seem to get on ok.

Hope it went well, OP. Sounds like a lovely environment to do well thought out introductions. A very refreshing read!

Awww thank you everyone. It was really really lovely and I’m so happy I’ve now met them. They were a tiny bit shy for the first 5 mins but my son soon had them on the trampoline and the youngest one came with me without dad to collect food from the shed and we went and fed the sheep together. My kids were incredible and spent far more time with them than I did but we all had pizza together. It was very relaxed and natural and they both cried when they had to go home and have already asked when they can come back. Really exciting as it was the next step in our relationship and we’re both really happy I’ve now met them and my kids found that they actually enjoyed it which was one of my worries. Phew 😅

Oh, that is really lovely. I'm glad it was such a success. It's nice to have a positive story on Mumsnet.
