Online dating. Help!

Ok, so for the very first time I've joined online dating. I've never really been on a date before! Always ended up being friends and then being together.

So what do I expect? What's the etiquette? It's a socially distanced picnic on Sunday lunchtime. What's the deal? Chat? Do I expect a hug/ snog if it goes well? But what under covid? That doesn't feel right so do I have to say I don't want to break the rules, or am I expecting too much on a first date anyway?!?

Also. And of course. I've got a cold sore. I can prob hide it but obvs don't want to snog with it, so do I cancel?!? Argh!! Help!!

A picnic for a first date sounds nice, actually. I personally wouldn't snog on the first date, and doubly so with COVID.

Have you got a wet-weather back up plan?

I usually try meet as soon as possible so that you can be sure that they arent just timewasters online for the ego boost.

Easier said than done right now.

I'm avoiding it till lockdown is up because it'll be swarming with narcissists right now. Due to them having no way to meet new supply.

I think you are massively missing the point of social distancing! Why call it a socially distanced date if you are willing to hug/snog?

You could warn him about the cold sore. There was a strange news story about a man suing a woman who covered it with makeup and transferred the virus to him.

I don't think she needs to mention the cold sore, just not kiss him. And yes, covid!

Yes no physical contact this time, no mention the cold sore, taking our own stuff/ picnic blankets. Which seems odd so just asking what's generally acceptable.
Never done this ever, so I'm kind of glad to do it under covid cos there's defo no pressure 😆

I wouldn’t risk a hug or snog with a random Internet stranger that you might not even like.

There is a story in the news at the moment about a man suing a woman who snogged him on a date and he caught a cold sore.

Don't kiss him, a woman is currently being sued for kissing a man while she had a cold sore. Could be an expensive date.
