Kids as weapons?

My son (who is divorced from his wife) has fallen out with everyone wjo still contacts her - cousins for kids parties etc. He set her up with an ipad and an email address and we would message and facetime when she was at her mums (mainly) Chatting about crafts and me sending her images to give craft inspiration- she is 8 by the way. Both of us lived this as we miss each enormously. Anyway I had an argument with said son last week over something unrelated. Suddenly no messages. I asked him and he said she was spending too much time on their when at her mums so he has deleted me. I have half a mind to speak with her mum as i know she greatly values our input. I cant believe he is using the kids as a weapon. What would you do?
