Evening, I have finally told Dp that it is over and I want to separate.
Lots of issues including alcohol and drugs, he gives up for a while then inevitably starts again.
Please tell me your happy after a split stories, I need to hear them , 3 DC.

I’ve split with my ex due to similar reasons and I’m happier. Much happier.

I’m not even bothered about meeting anyone else for the minute I want to concentrate on being the best mum I can to my son and get ‘me’ back

My ex had anger issues and was hypercritical of me. Even now, years later, I sometimes find myself doing something like mopping the floors and remember how he used to make me feel like shit for doing it wrong and this massive wave of relief washes over me that I don’t have that anymore. Or when my current BF and I find ourselves in a stressful situation I brace for him to go off like my ex did and it feels so good when he doesn’t, when he stays calm and supportive.

Our kids naturally wish we were still together, well the 6 year old does anyway as he doesn’t really understand, but they are both happy kids and have dealt with everything so well.

Splits aren’t easy, but life can be so much better after. Good luck xx
