hi guys,

I live 30 mins drive from my parents who are in their mid 40s, they also live with my younger brother. We are normally very close and we havents seen eachother in about a month (since law have suggested that we should stay at home)

We stay at home, my husband goes shopping once every 2 weeks, my baby who is 8 months old havent been out for the last month.

We understand the risk of going out and we even stopped walking together or exercising...
I am wondering if in UK we are allowed to visit my family on Easter Sunday?
I am asking because I know they are safe,
we arent sick either.

I am very annoyed because I have friends who visit their families or siblings who they not live with all the fricking time and I am sticking to this quarantine but a little bit fed up now knowing that peope still visit their families and I havent,

I really want tl go to see them on Sunday, what you guys think?

Well if everyone flouted the rules because they are somehow 'special' we would be wiped out!

We are about to see a rise in the deaths. Everyone has someone they would like to see but can't, so don't!

Jessikka · 09/04/2020 10:26

I think this is made up. Who would STILL be asking this for christ sake.

Thefaceofboe · 09/04/2020 10:27

Either made up or someone VERY VERY simple.

SkinnywannabeKBH · 09/04/2020 10:27

WTAF???? No!
What is wrong with following the bloody rules..... Put it this way. Your friends and possibly you if you decide to go on Sunday are at risk of picking up the virus and infecting anyone you come into contact with.
I saw a post of a local family on fb who's mother was not in contact with anyone over the past 6wks. She didnt see her family on mother's day, nothing. She somehow contracted the virus and has sadly just passed away....eith no family members near her. They can't go to a funeral, cremation, aren't allowed to see their mother 1 last time, aren't allowed to gather her last belongings, nothing.
Is this what you want for your family? This could be very possible if you choose to break the rules.

I despair, although glad to see OP is taking the advice on board. Youngish neighbour was telling me yesterday how his mates still go up the park drinking. He doesn't because he's worried about getting a fine. I explained he should be more worried about catching a deadly virus.

Windmillwhirl · 09/04/2020 10:28

OP has already said she is staying at home. Two more pages roasting her is pointless now. Phucks sake

TheOrigBrave · 09/04/2020 10:28

Is this a wind up?

bettythedevilyouknow · 09/04/2020 10:29

Maybe you think Easter is the exception because it's holy? 😂🤦‍♀️

FairNotFair · 09/04/2020 10:29

Yes; I think it's a great idea. Everyone knows that the virus doesn't work on the major religious holidays Hmm

Candyfloss99 · 09/04/2020 10:31

No

NO

Hi OP, well done for taking everyone's comments onboard, although some seem a little harsh. I really suggest you do Zoom (or any other video conferencing) with your family. Our DC's both live away from us and as well as regular whatsapps etc we have started spending Sunday afternonons 'together' over Zoom. It is not the same as having them here but it's pretty good.
Stay strong!

Ilovemypantry · 09/04/2020 10:34

I cannot believe that people are still asking if it’s ok for them to go against the lockdown rules.
This is so frightening as there are still so many people that just don’t seem to understand....how will we ever beat this thing with so many stupid people amongst us?

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 09/04/2020 10:35

Don’t be a dick!

We alway to see our family ffs, but those of us with sense won’t. If we all stick to the rules, this lockdown will end sooner and we won’t lose the right to exercise.

This how outbreak has really shown what selfish cunts some people are

LemonTT · 09/04/2020 10:36

I really think MN needs to stop all of the “am I allowed to” threads. The government messages are clear. People posting these questions just seem to creat confusion in the extent they can bend rules. Or worse, they imply widespread flaunting of the rules.

Whatever any OPs intentions are, these threads don’t help.

Khione · 09/04/2020 10:36

I'm just watching TV where a cell biologist has just advised a viewer who asked if he could meet up with his partner who lives a mile away and who has had Covid symptoms that he should wait another week. The GP on the same programme had to overrule her and say they can't meet at all even if they have had the virus.

That's because the biologist was talking from a safety point of view. If someone has had the virus and recovered it is generally considered that they are no longer infectious and will not get it again. If this person was front line NHS or customer facing in a supermarket, they are safe to go back to work.

The GP correctly said that 'the guidelines/rules' don't allow it.

justanotherneighinparadise · 09/04/2020 10:36

Op have you looked at the news recently? Lots of countries are starting to get back on their feet now, many of which stuck to a strict lockdown. We are still absolutely fucking screwed. Even more so if people start thinking their family have special dispensation to start mixing again.

If you can’t be bothered to concern yourself about people dying then maybe think about the economy and how much extra tax you’ll be paying as this thing drags on and on.

yellowbluebell · 09/04/2020 10:36

No. What makes you so special that it's ok for you to do this and not everyone else?

MrsExpo · 09/04/2020 10:37

NO you can not visit family.

I get that it's frustrating that there are people out there who seem to think the rules don't apply to them, but if this thing gets any worse the lock down restrictions will follow suit - tighter controls etc. Please stay at home.

I don't think this is made up, I think a significant majority of people outside of MN truly believe they can do stuff like this - the OP says, for example, she thought that going outside was more risky than seeing her family as there were a lot of people outside.

PilatesPeach · 09/04/2020 10:38

We are all fed up with people flouting the rules but that doesn't mean we should join them.

Fed-uppedness is not a reason to leave the house and go visiting .
