After a second date, during which you DTD, would you expect a text the next day, like by 11.30a. or not?

Just wondering because I may have just messed up I think. 2nd date shagging is the same as 1st isn't it really? Or maybe I'm paranoid...

I'd be on tenterhooks but I wouldn't write him off just yet. Suspect men are sometimes not as emotionally literate as us. But if they don't call for a substantial amount of time (I have no idea how long this is, btw) then it is a bad sign.

ledodgy · 09/09/2007 11:38

No if the man is living alone with no children I would assume he was still in bed at this time on a Sunday. I know I would be.

newlifenewname · 09/09/2007 11:42

He brought me home at 7am (today) because I had to take the babysitter home. The date was great and he talked loads about places we'd go next and about doing the Independent crossword together on a Sunday but this was all pre-sex if I recall. We did talk after though but he hasn't booked 3rd date like he did after the 1st so I'm feeling a little concerned AND paranoid! I would be surprised and gutted if it was all 'get your knickers off' fabbiness but it could be, as with any man.

Will still be in bed. I would be worrying too, but give him the afternoon at the very least to wake up.

KaySamuels · 09/09/2007 11:44

He may even be worrying about what you think of him, if you really had to rush off home etc....

He met the children too - which wasn't my intention. I was upstairs drying my hair and had a house full with my friend and her children, my babysitter and her boyfriend. It was a bit crazy. Someone let him in and I came down to him playing top trumps with my youngest and my friend's boy (who'd just pooed himself) jumping all over him on the sofa.

Not what I wanted to happen AT ALL!

I really like him. More than anyone else I've dated recently. He is in work today but not sure what time.

I have texted him but am too embarrased to say what.

Arse.

Yes spill how was he?!

sazzybee · 09/09/2007 11:55

You have already texted him once? Do not under any circumstances text him again in that case. You will come across as mad stalker woman if you do

[not talking from personal experience, oh no]

it's sunday, he's drinking and watching sport. that's what we do.

newlifenewname · 09/09/2007 12:04

Oh god, thank goodness for you lot! Making me feel much better.

Okay, text was stupid, stupid, gone wrong sarcastic joke sent about 3 hours after we parted company and said, in essence; "I didn't like DTD with you really."

2nd text was going to say "I loved it" but I lost my signal and he texted back before me saying "ok. Then it won't happen again. X" so I said "really? even though I loved it!?" .

I really need my phone removed from me. I have drafted a text and saved to avoid me sending because since then he hasn't replied but it may be because he is in work now.

He's a sergeant so can't always text easily.
Last time we dated we texted each other a couple of little texts each about the date being good within a few hrs of it ending.

Draft text says

"oh well, I thought you were pretty smart, and sexy and fun to be with" c'est la vie!

I am going to desperately avoid sending for 48 hrs but I may only last til bedtime tonight.

Turn your phone off ffs

Seriously, turn your phone off and enjoy your Sunday with your children. You're going to be on tenterhooks waiting for him to text.

Or you'll send him a text you regret then wait around for a reply

Then get worked up if he doesnt reply

It wont kill him if he does text you when your phones off and you dont reply, it'll keep him on his toes

suzycreamcheese · 09/09/2007 12:11

wait til he's off duty and call?...

could his text back to you been sarky too?
why didnt you just text what you were going to do?..god i hate mobile phones..this just confirms it

ahh, you might have to suck lemons til you can call later and sort it out....?

NotAnOtter · 09/09/2007 12:13

do NOT send any such text- seriously

just wait ...go out or something....

do not contact him under any circumstances NO SIREE

then he will call - dont worry - stay calm -look cool

do not hassle - looks uncool!

Cappuccino · 09/09/2007 12:14

did anyone see cod's anti-text thread the other day

this is exactly what she was on about

newlifenewname · 09/09/2007 12:15

Yes, I need to do housework and a supermarket shop. I could perfectly easily distract myself but I am sitting here torturing myself tbh. Kids still only half dressed so less self obsession would be good for them too I think.

I hope his text was sarky but he might have been really, REALLY offended. We both addded kisses so maybe that will make it okay?
