Booking a hotel - double always mean two?

Mate of mine recovering from her h infidelity. All back to normal. Now he seems to have booked a room (legit - needed for work) but she saw was for two.
I can’t remember if when you book it automatically says two - but I know we’ve talked about it on here before. I suggested she tried to book one there but I don’t think she can face it. 😞

Whenever I have booked for work it has come up as double 1 adult or something like that. She could check with the hotel but by that point is it really worth it? She will feel like this many, many times again.

I travel for work and always book a double just for me. I put two people on the booking form to make sure I get a double bed.

I often travel solo. I can only remember one hotel in the last few years that allowed you book single rooms (for practically nothing, normally aimed at tour groups bus drivers). Otherwise it is always a choice between a twin or a double. Normally book the double as it is often a King size bed where as a twin is either two single beds or a single and a queen.

The last hotel I stayed had 2 double beds in it

I work in a travelodge and our standard room is called a "double" regardless of whether theres one or two guests in it.
The issue here is that the trust is gone, she may be satisfied it was a double room for one until the next thing makes her doubt.
