I’ve been sad for quite a while now (lots going on). I’m not suffering from depression but I experience a sort of low mood, disappointment & low level anxiety/overthinking/replaying.

I’m in therapy and I won’t be going on meds and I don’t need meds . Do any of you have tips? How do you boost your mood amidst a stressful time? How do you get the joy back in to your life?

Sorry you're sad OP.

I find going for a walk lifts my mood, with headphones listening to some upbeat music.

Meeting friends, or even chatting with friends online makes me happy Smile

Going to live music gigs is my top happy place though Smile

Hope your mood lifts soon Flowers

Yes to exercise

Also (unless you use hormonal contraception) have you considered St John's Wort?

Thanks. I do need to exercise more. I think I read that it’s often more effective than anti-depressants.

I tried St John’s Wort before & didn’t notice any difference.

Walking in the fresh air gives me a boost, as does meeting up with friends. I also find a change of scenery helps, just walking in a different place or going to read my book in a cafe rather than at home. Planning things in the diary to look forward e.g spreading out meet ups with friends/family so that i have at least one thing a week to look forward to.

Thanks. It’s important to stay social all right.

Google mood boosting foods.

Hmmm.... I find that when I’m sad I put on my headphones belt out some absolute banging songs. Get my comfies on and either clean my house or do something that distracts me normally with a large white wine. Or I go for a run 🏃‍♀️

The mood-boosting foods would be interesting as I’m finding myself comfort-eating due to feeling sad! Pizza, wine & cake holds a lot more appeal these days than blueberries and almonds!

It’s nice to hear what others do to boost their mood.

Blueberry cheesecake and Prosecco it is then!

Music. Always have good music you love on in the house, the car, your headphones , whatever....a playlist of your absolute favourites. Lots of them. Always lifts my mood because I cant help but sing along. Grin

Exercise, yes. But if you dont fancy the gym as such, I've found yoga is a great way to lift my mood. You have to focus on what you're doing so really distracts and helps channel your thoughts positively... imperative you have a good teacher though.

Why are you so sad? Flowers

Thanks. Bangin’ tunes it is! I’m sad because my marriage has ended & I’ve been struggling to find a place to live.
