Would you think this messaging was weird?

Friend of a friend on Facebook on a few occasions now has sent me late night messages, always fairly innocuous like 'Hello how are you?' but when I reply the next day he either ignores or gives a one word answer but then a few weeks later will send a similar message.

This guy is someone I don't know well and actually have always got the impression he didn't like me much as he's fairly aloof whenever i've seen him in person so don't know why he keeps doing this

Obviously it's not really a big issue, I've just started to ignore and not bother replying but find it a bit strange

He sobers up.

Tript · 01/03/2020 23:56

He's throwing out the net. You reply too late the next day so he doesn't bother responding.

Flowerpower2020 · 01/03/2020 23:57

Seems like he’s looking for a bit of sexting at night and when you only reply in the morning his urges have gone lol

Don’t respond in future

Tript · 01/03/2020 23:58

Exactly dusty Grin

You're doing the right thing OP by not responding to him anymore.

RitaHayworthHair · 01/03/2020 23:58

Had a few too many at night and casting out for someone to bite.

Stay away. Don't start doing the whole "oh maybe he means something else blah blah"

YappityYapYap · 02/03/2020 00:02

Casting the net! What a creep. The next time he messages, send him a link to tinder

YakkityYakYakYak · 02/03/2020 00:27

Definitely looking for a late night hook up. I’d probably call him out on it.

My2catsarefab · 02/03/2020 00:29

I had a similar FB 'friend' who did this...started of innocently enough, but then there would always be a message about he was lonely/had an argument with his wife etc.

I lost my shit, and after being cheated on by my exH in exactly the same manner, texted him back in response to the latest 2am message - "Do not message me again. I am not here for you to contact whenever you are lonely/had an argument whatever. Sort your life and your relationship out" Funnily enough, I have not heard from him since.

gunners111 · 02/03/2020 20:19

Ok, like I said I wouldn't expect it but who knows, maybe he sends the same message to half his facebook friends

I'll just continue to ignore

Lonely, bored and horny.

Tale as old as time...

Sally2791 · 02/03/2020 20:27

There are many men who play these tricks. Had one recently, messaging me, and a colleague of mine( do they not realise we talk to one another!) and he’s married to a good friend of mine. Not sure where he thinks it’s going

Historydweeb · 02/03/2020 20:33

Pissed up is my bet

snowdaynoday · 02/03/2020 21:32

I had this happen last night.
Guy wanted to know if I wanted to see his willy. So I blocked
He then messaged me on another account.

I said ok you must really want me to see you willy. You show me yours and I'll show you mine.
He sent his and I sent a dick picture back.
He wasn't happy. Then I followed up with a heap of weird filth about my willy until he pissed off.
I had such fun!

LeviJeans11 · 02/03/2020 21:56

Years ago a guy did this to me and without any encouragement or even talk about his penis he sent me a dick pic. Hilarious thing about the photo was that he sent his erect willy next to a plastic bottle....an innocent smoothie bottle....I think the irony was lost on him.
Blocked.

gunners111 · 02/03/2020 22:46

The more I think about it the more it makes sense (the fact that he keeps trying) but now I'm quite angry.

This guy has barely been civil to me the last few times we've seen each other (before the messages so can't be because i've ignored him) yet thinks I might be sitting around ready to chat when he wants some attention.

Urgh i'm deleting him
