Has anyone used online dating to find a decent casual partner ?At the moment I want something casual ( maybe fwb) , but worry about safety aspects( including stds ).

How would you approach it ?

Same way as any dating really. Exchange a few messages, then meet in a public place for a coffee or drinks, treat it like a first date and be very clear beforehand that sex isn’t a sure fire thing or even a likelihood, you’re meeting to see if you like and fancy each other. Tell a friend where you’re going and ask them to call or text you at some point later that night to check in. If you do end up going home with someone, text said friend to tell them so and ask them to call or text you again the following morning.

The reality is that people for decades have been going home with strangers for sex, even well before online dating, and the vast majority of the time the worst that happens is the sex is crap. Just take sensible precautions, let your whereabouts be known, and if someone seems weird make your excuses and leave straight away.

STDs - use condoms, obviously. Still some risk obviously but there’s no more inherent risk of catching something from a FWB than someone you’re pursuing a relationship with.
