Dating Online

Hmm, where to start? I've ended my almost 3 year relationship because I found that partner had a profile online. He believes he has done nothing wrong saying that he wasnt active but crucially we had promised each other that we take down our profiles. We met online, and although we've had ups and downs I had put my faith in him and feel utterly betrayed. Is my reaction over the top?

Did you ask him to see the profile to prove that it was inactive?

VK80 · 07/02/2020 20:55

No I didn't I freaked out and called it off. Am not sure how he could have proved. I think it would only show if someone was active within the last few days, am not sure. But it was more the promise broken and why would he need to still have a profile. It beggars belief to me.

Oh dear, I have only just realised I still have my profile on line too, it’s in invisible mode though so no one can see. I forgot to delete the tile on my phone. If my boyfriend of 6 months dumped me without me trying to explain that I just forgot to delete the tile I would be devastated. I have not used my profile once since I started seeing my man but it was a genuine oversight on my part. I hope you haven’t thrown a good relationship away due to him not deleting something he had no intention using.

Awh thanks for that insight, am not sure it was an oversight though on his part as we discussed and agreed as opposed to you simply forgetting and yours is in hidden mode. His is active although he states he's not been on. I think if you agree something fundamental and it's not followed through then that breaks trust.

I think my dating profile might still be there too! From 3 years back!

VK80 · 07/02/2020 21:26

I have been with my partner now husband for 6 years and his profile is still on the dating website because you had to ring up to delete it and once he has witnessed me trying and failing several times to delete mine he didn't bother. Doesn't mean he goes on there

GiveHerHellFromUs · 07/02/2020 21:30

I think it you specifically discussed closing all accounts and he's chosen not to you're not overreacting. If you'd simply agreed not to use the accounts anymore then you are.

VK80 · 07/02/2020 21:40

Thankyou for all your help, we did agree to close and take down 😔

I met my ex online and didnt delete it. I did the app but it was a nightmare trying to delete the actual account and I actually stopped going on there after date two so forgot it was even there until we split up and I went to add one, realised then I'd never took the old one down (bit of luck in all honesty because setting them up is so tedious) 😁

ALittleBitConfused1 · 07/02/2020 22:28

Interested to know how you discovered his was still on there though. Did he tell you?

VK80 · 07/02/2020 22:43
