I'm about to kick the fuck off but before I do, I want to check that I actually am getting it right.

A few months ago, DP did something that broke my trust and we've been recovering ever since. I've noticed he's been logging into my Instagram constantly (he didnt know that I knew he is) and then deleting the app off the iPad before I'm home. I don't care, really, I have nothing to hide. It's the fact he denied doing it and "swearing on my life" that he hasn't. I am loyal, completely faithful and always have been.

I told him it was invasion of my privacy and if he felt something was off, he should talk to me and I'd reassure him. He swore he wouldn't go back on it.

Now I've just gone onto find my iPhone and it shows you when your devices were last logged in. He's been on my laptop on the 29th ay 3.10pm. I asked him out of curiosity whether he has been on it and he swears again he hasn't.

I've just gone to restore a work document out of the trash bin on my Mac. There are loads of restore iPhone files, I can't click on them... is he trying to restore my phone to the laptop!? Can this even be done without my permission? He's very tech savvy and I'm not.

Sounds like he'ss trying to import all the data on your phone to the computer, which you can do with the apple ID (or could a few years ago but I don't imagine it's changed).

This doesn't sound healthy, and personally it's not a relationship I'd want to be in.

He knows my Apple ID and password.

Would my phone alert me if this happened?

I wish I wasn't so thick with technology.

He can't be happy with me can he? If you routinely go looking for something, you're hoping to find something to finish the relationship?

Yes he can access the contents of your phone if he logs into your cloud and/or has an app that does it for him.
As far as I know he will be able to access everything except your What’s app content.

DivGirl · 31/01/2020 21:20

Change your password. Now.

This isn't normal behaviour, this is bordering on stalker behaviour. He will be able to access everything, and no you wouldn't be notified.

Walkerbean16 · 31/01/2020 23:15

Can he see your emails? Will he know you have posted this?

He sounds like a creep!

aroundtheworldyet · 31/01/2020 23:33

Why is he doing this?

AcrossthePond55 · 31/01/2020 23:36

Change your Apple account ID and password, not just the password. Be sure that your iCloud account has also been changed (it usually changes when you change your Apple).

Make sure that all email addresses associated with your account are accessible only by you.

Remove his devices from your account (if they're listed).

Be sure to enable two factor authentication (if that's available in the UK). Two factor will alert you (text or email) if someone has logged into your account and tell you the device used. It will also send you a code (text message) to enter if someone tries to access your account from a strange device (like if he tried to get into your Apple account from his laptop). This is why it's important to 'de-list' any of his devices from your account.

AcrossthePond55 · 31/01/2020 23:39

And if you haven't, password protect ALL devices. Try to use a different password for each lock screen.

Not an apple person, but log out on all other devices and change passwords. Make sure that you are not sharing with nearby devices.
