How do you know if you are gay?

NC for this, have been here years though.

How do you know if you are gay or bi if you have always been in a relationship with a man? I’ve been with DH since I was 18 and I’m now in my 30s. I’ve always felt attracted to women’s bodies but felt so ashamed about it, I never gave myself space to think about it and pushed it down.

Now I’m older I can’t help but wonder if I am actually gay. I love my DH but his body doesn’t excite me the way a woman’s body does. I think I’ve just learnt to love it if that makes sense?

Not even sure where I’m going with this post. I guess I’m just curious to know if anyone else has been in this situation?

I only realised last year (I'm in late 30s) and as of few days ago - my DH and I have separated because of that.

I still feel like it's all a dream - watching my whole life fall apart. But in my heart I know I am doing a very hard but right thing.

My friend's wife said, after they'd got together, "I thought all women fantasied about women when having sex with men". My friend "No, dear, just the women who should be having sex with women."

She is Eastern Europe though and it's so horrifyingly homophobic there that the mere notion of being gay was terrifying.

For a counterpoint example, I'm straight and women's bodies do nothing for me. DH's arms do something though.

I dont think its as simple as you just know. You could be bisexual but prefer women
