Can it work? If your parents are judgemental about who you are dating because they don't fit the mould of their ideal partner for you?
I know I shouldn't really care but I fear they think he isn't good enough (based on class etc)

Too many variables to be able to say!

Have your friends met him? Do they like him? Does he have a job or go to college/uni?

My parents hates a guy from a council housing scheme that I dated. I said they were snobs and where you stay and the breaks you’ve had are luck.

I thought it “wasn’t his fault his parents didn’t have jobs and he had a criminal record and couldn’t get a job it was just stealing things as a young man that put him in this situation and it’s not fair his criminal record follows him forever even though he knows better than to steal now yada yada”.

Turned out my parents were right. He stole from me too. Prick. I still see him in the street sometimes. Looks awful. I dodged a bullet!

What is their specific issue?

Is he WC? Oh how dreadful. Does he have a ferret and eat Greggs sausage rolls in the street?

Dump him, find yourself a nice avocado eating bloke with a labrador.

let me think - different country, religion & votes Labour - Goodness that will never work ! I must tell dh this - we are obviously doomed - after decades of marriage Grin so what important - I suggest this: forget about the passion you might feel (although that's important!) do you find him interesting, does he agree with your views on right & wrong (old fashioned hey!) could you be friends? do you enjoy each others company & does he treat you with respect & does he treat others with respect even if he doesn't agree with them.
