‘I’m not going to argue about it’

I have a few other threads going on how to leave this 20 year long relationship, but in seeing the light I am noticing so much more.
So he will sometimes say to people ‘no, we never argue’ but I’ve only just realised what that means. Today I noticed how when I expressed a different view to him (what day I hoped someone would be visiting), he said ‘I’m not arguing about it’. It means ‘shut the fuck up and agree with me’. Every time. How has it taken me so long to realise?

Yes I agree - this is exactly what it means - usually the person says it after they have had their say to shut you down so you cannot have yours. Disgraceful and disrespectful.
