How do you get over a break up?

I’ve just asked my dp of 3 years to leave after he has chosen alcohol over our relationship. He has also been emotionally abusive towards me recently.

I just don’t know how to cope I’m a complete mess. He’s left me in a lot of financial difficulties and our home is full of reminders of him. I haven’t eaten or slept for 2 days.

Hour by hour. Then day by day.
Be kind to yourself. Treat yourself as you would a best friend. Make time for you. Spend time with family and friends.

When you are ready make a list of things you need to do and work out what are the musts and the nice to haves.

Think of the things you will be able to do. Is he's gone. My ex husband was an alcoholic and when he left it was like the biggest weight had been lifted. I was no longer frightened in my own home or my own bed.

Yes, treat yourself very kindly and allow yourself to feel rubbish for a few days. Tell your friends and family so they can look out for you and support you. It’s the last thing you may feel like doing but try to get out and about. Even if it’s just wrapping up warm for a brisk walk.
