How much background do you know on new partners?

Do you google, ask questions or what?

I know a lot of anything like this is feeling and that trust in another person, but when you have children how far into someones past do you go?

I think googling people and looking over their social media is quite sensible. For yourself as much as any dc you have.

I know a lot about my new partner as a) he's told me a lot and b) a mutual friend has known him for 20 years and if I wanted to, could ask to corroborate anything.

When you have younger children, there's always a concern (mine are adults), but in the practical sense if you did have niggling doubts you can put a request for information via Clare's Law.
