Going on a date with someone else?

Quite new to dating after 15 years married and a rotten divorce that's finally done. Been single over a year and started dating a couple of months back once I felt ready.

Met someone I really liked via a mutual friend. Had 5 really good dates. No discussion on exclusivity or anything though.

Got another date lined up tomorrow night with another man - someone I met in a bar a while back who I've been chatting with a while but haven't met again in person.

Honestly I don't have much interest in going. I really like the guy I've been seeing. I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket though, not knowing if he's feeling the same and if he's seeing other people or not.

Half tempted to just text him and ask him how he feels about it all. Not really sure what to do Blush

Until you’ve agreed you’re exclusive, you’re both free to see other people and going on other dates will stop you focusing too much and getting over-attached. (Rotational dating, as Sami Wunder calls it). Go, enjoy and practice your dating skills.

How often do you speak to and see the guy you’ve had five dates with?

Sunny - we chat daily.

Perhaps spin it around. How would you feel if the five date guy met someone for a date?

You are of course allowed to meet this other guy because you're not exclusive - I guess it just may make things a little complicated for you...or perhaps the other way around!

For me, when I had a few dates that i completely enjoyed I kind of took myself off the market.

Dating this time around is very exciting but also can be super stressful!

Good luck!

If you speak every day I’d ask him if he was seeing other people or just you.

Minionmomma · 17/10/2019 22:11

Yep. It’s totally ok to ask if he’s seeing or planning on dating other people. I’d do that and depending on his answer you can decide what to do re the other guy

I'd check if he was planning and seeing anyone else.

There is a thread on here now where the exclusivity chat hasn't been had and OP found out he slept with someone else. Consensus is he hasn't done anything wrong but it's still a shitty thing to do and shows he's not that interested in the OP or he wouldn't have slept with someone else.

I can't imagine going on a date with someone else when me and DP started out, I was totally smitted with him and had no interest in anyone else.
