Hernia operation recovery?

Hey, anyone have any experience of the recovery following inaugural hernia surgery? My husband had it on Tuesday and was home Tuesday night but he says he can’t look after our daughter until 6th November and is also unable to let her hug him/go near his body at the moment- 4 days on which I think is really unfair as how can you tell a 2 year old not to touch you!!! He is a hypochondriac but I wanted to check if I’m being unfair by not being more sympathetic?

I had a repair to an incisional hernia, it was extremely painful and took a good 6 months to fully recover from. It honestly was more painful than having a kidney removed and recovering from that.

My brother had a hernia op 8 weeks ago and he's still recovering now, it can be a long haul.

Inguinal hernia (I assume this is what you mean - same thing for most hernias though) is a good 6 weeks of being careful and three months to feel anywhere near back to normal.

Please take care of your husband and explain to your child why she can't jump on his lap for now.

You are being very unfair

@ChristmasFluff thanks for that. While I appreciate your response I’m not asking my husband to have my daughter jump all over him just to see her, let her sit next to him and hug him! How is a 2 year old supposed to understand she can’t see daddy all of a sudden? Also we don’t have a good relationship since he was abusive to me so I’m struggling for empathy as I never have any shown to me!
