How do I help my sister and nephew?

My Dsis had a baby 3 weeks ago. He was fine for the 1st week until she gave him a formula bottle. He projectile vomited and was in pain. Had alot of wind. Then he came out in a rash on his face and had a painful belly with wind. It also seems he has reflux when laid flat.

My DS has a cow's milk protein allergy and he had all these symptoms above and they started the same age as my nephew. I've told my Dsis I think he has what my DS has and may be to take him to the doctors. However my Dsis has barely left the house since giving birth and is increasingly becoming more and more anxious. She will pick first with her OH just so she doesn't have to go out. She has got MH issues and not sure if she is still taking her tablets for it. I'm worried she won't seek medical help because of her anxious but I don't want to push her and feel like I'm imposing. However it's clear something isn't right which my nephew as he has been crying in pain for hours she has said. What do I do?

Talk to her partner. Ask what you can do to help. Offer to clean up, do some ironing, be there so it is easier for her to ask for help.

I've brought food round to their house and helped her with my nephew when she didn't know what to do. My DM has also been round most daytimes to help when her OH has been at work. I work 3 days a week and have a DS so can only be there limited times. Her OH doesn't really get it and has pressured her to breastfeed. I like him but I don't think he would push the issue of going to the docs. He always thinks he can sort it himself.

Is there a HV visiting at home? If not could you say you'll drive them to the Doctors?

He could be dairy intolerant as my GD had exactly the same symptoms. She doesn’t want the baby to be in pain if he doesnt need to be.

The HV visited at home and suggested combination feeding. In my experience HV and midwives weren't that great or clued up on milk allergies. The midwife pretty much ignored her concerns and spoke about breast feeding. I was so lucky that I got a doctor who's son also had the same allergy so he understood. But I still had a struggle to get a diagnosis. I'm just worried she won't be persistent because of her anxiety and also if someone tells her it's ok she doesn't challenge it. I know she doesn't want him in pain but I don't feel she knows what to do and also the anxiety is stopping her. I suggested maybe our DM goes with her to the docs.
