Some men are real twats. They lie & expect you to blithely swallow their fantasy of how good/nice they are. I met someone who I thought was lovely. Very handsome, very fit, charming, respectful. Turns out he's got some VERY serious previous... So that's the end of that then. At least I can congratulate myself on having a lucky escape. Trouble is, men like this are not a one-off, there's so many of them out there..

I have to add, that from a male perspective, there are many many women who are similar, i.e.with a lot of "previous". Women who behave charmingly and then suddenly, without warning, without apparent reason, reveal a shadow side.

So its not men only, but humans. Sorry to disrupt the female solidarity.
