Pill and bleeding

Can anyone offer any advice. I get horrible periods so I saw a doctor about taking the pill. I don't need it to provent pregnancy anymore as my husband had the snip. I started taking it on first day of period as stated last Wednesday but I'm still bleeding. I wouldn't mind but I have a sexy weekend booked up and timed it round period being done. Could the bleeding be a side effect? Anything I can do?

It could be.
So you've been bleeding for a week?
Is this the combined pill or the mini pill?
I was on the combined and all good.
Went on the mini pill and it was hell.
I bled all the time.
The implant is my godsend.
No period for years now.
If it's still very heavy a week later then get back to your GP and talk it all through.

It's combined I believe. It's spotting all the time now. I had an implant 10 years ago first year no periods then constant bleeding for the next 2 years.

My periods do drag on sometimes but this is red blood with every wipe and need a towel. It's been like this since Sunday

So you started taking it on the first day of your period (Sunday), but it’s Wednesday and you still have your period? I would say that’s pretty normal. The pill doesn’t just magically override your natural cycle. I’d expect you’d have your period as normal this month and it may stop next month or be very light (if you take pill continuously). But it’s normal to have random spotting and bleeding for a few months after you start the pill before it settles down.

No my period started last Wednesday

It sounds pretty normal. I bled for a few weeks after starting the pill. If you're worried have a chat with a pharmacist or your doctor Thanks

I spoke to pharmacy and they just said keep taking. That's the weekend out the window then

What would happen if I stop now?
