When to get the snip?

Currently 33 weeks pregnant. DH have talked that as much as we'd like another DC we're definitely not having another one (if we could guarantee it would be a baby girl then maybe, but as we know that's impossible!) I keep telling him he should probably boon his vasectomy a couple of weeks after baby is born. I have no idea of local waiting times. Obviously if we had an "oops" baby we'd be happy but we'd rather not chance fate!

I don't think the nhs will do it till your baby is 5 or 6 months old. Babies are so delicate. Please don't dwell on that.

We're trying to figure out birth control. I can't be on anything hormonal and I wasn't a fan of the coil. That being sai, it took us almost 9 months to conceive our baby boy so we don't think I'd get pregnant that easily.

DH is 27.
We've got 2 boys.
He had his vasectomy when our youngest was 13 days old (hes only 5mo now so very recent).
We've been using condoms till we get the all clear that it's been successful.
They just asked him the usual questions and told him about reversals usually being unsuccessful and that the NHS won't do them and then signed off on the procedure.

Princess how long did he have to wait between seeing the GP and the vasectomy itself?

Once he's had the snip it can take a long time for him to become infertile. When my DH had his done he still had swimmers 7 months later. You will probably need to plan on contraception for the next year.

Some parts of the UK don't do NHS vasectomies any more, and no idea what will happen to services after Brexit. Might want to bear in mind it would be around £500 privately if needed.

Our trust funds vasectomies. The only requirement is that I'm not currently pregnant, so we'd have to wait a few weeks for the initial appointment.
