DH refuses to get eyes tested

DH wears glasses. He last had his eyes tested in 2013. I have offered to make appointments for him, to no avail. I have let it go because he gets irritated if I keep on about it.
Recently though, our DD (22) has been telling him he should get them tested and even went so far as to make an appointment for him. I didn’t know she was going to do this.
DH told us he wasn’t going to go and later asked me to tell DD to cancel the appointment. I said it was nothing to do with me.
Tonight he is angry with me because he said I didn’t support him. But he should get his eyes tested and I don’t understand why he’s so angry about the whole thing. It’s an eye test FFS!

If he drives I'd be phoning the police or dVLA for advice. He's putting people's lives at risk.

Calling the police or the DVLA would be slightly insane. There must be millions and millions of drivers in this country (glasses and non-glasses wearers) who haven’t had an eye test in the last six years. He hasn’t reported any deterioration in his eyesight, so why on earth would the police be interested?

When’s your next eye test due OP? I would gently encourage him to book an appointment at the same time. But I would otherwise leave it for a while, he’s a grown man and he can decide for himself.

If there is glaucoma in the family I'd be more worried about the fact that is progressing without an eyes test to pick it up...

You know that saying “methinks the lady doth protest too much” (ie if you say no repeatedly about something chances are you are saying the opposite to the truth). Well I wonder if he knows his eyes have gotten worse and he’s avoiding going because he’s scared of what he’ll be told.....
