Hot & Cold

The title says it all really - I have a friend who blows hot and cold!

We've known each other 29 years. Granted our different lifestyles did cause us to drift apart (not in a bad way), but she became a mother and homemaker whilst I focused on my career. Fair do's.

Now I have a one year old girl said-friend came back into my life; she doted on my daughter, babysat, bought her presents. We were invited to special occasions, playgroups, and she often popped in to see me off the cuff which was all very nice. To be honest it was great to have something in common with her once more. But now, and all of a sudden, she's gone off the scene....again.

When I ask her out, these days, said-friend always seems to have an excuse?

Perhaps I'm being paranoid - I know she's in an unhappy marriage and has her own set of problems (I'm always happy to listen), but the rate in which I see or even hear from her nowadays is quite noticeable. I'm not sure how long I can keep suggesting we meet before I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall? I'm thinking perhaps she just needs some space?
