Can you do CBT therapy for a break up?

Recently split with an ex a couple of months ago.

The relationship was only a year and I feel mostly ok.

But even now if I think about it I get upset and start crying when I’m on my own. Which is unlike me as I’m not a very emotional person.

I see a lot of posters mention to do counselling or therapy when someone is going through a tough time.

What kind though?

I’d just like to forget about the whole relationship to be honest. None of the good times out weigh how I felt after he initially ended it. I wish I’d never met him.

Hi OP. Yes, you can! I'm a break up & Divorce Coach and help people recover from break ups.

Take a look at www.thegrouphug - loads of resources on there.

Good luck!

I did CBT After a trauma,not a break up.
It's the best thing I ever did.
Almost 2 years on and I barely recognise myself sometimes.
There is still work to do but I don't stay down for long.

CBT is the examination of interplay between thoughts, feelings and behaviour, so it can be effectively used in any situation you are having upsetting or distressing thoughts. Good luck.

Any kind of therapy that helps you observe the thoughts, feelings nd emotions and helps you detach from them.
Mindful meditation is another way.

Thanks. I will look into it
