My ds (19) has just told me that his ex-gf's dm (from a year ago) is 'popping by' later this afternoon to drop off some cakes for him! Hmm Ds is very happily settled with a new gf now & has been for some time. I'm more than a bit ShockHmm at why this woman's decided to just roll up at my house later on with free cake... For the record, ds is a baffled as me. This woman has never been to our house before & I don't know her from Adam. Ds parted with the ex on good terms but they don't hang out or anything. He didn't invite the dm over, he just got a text 'I've made you some cake & as I'm in the area I'll pass-by & drop it off'. To me, this is weird. What d'you think?

Is there a chance she just texted the weing person? If its come out of the blue, that would be my first guess.

I never delete people out of my phone. So it could happen that I text someone I have spoken to for ages

Either that or she is looking for an excuse to come over. I would assume she is going to tell him something.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 16/08/2019 15:03

Is she coming to say the young lady has since had a baby.... Wink

75Renarde · 16/08/2019 15:05

Yup. Very weird. I have my suspicions about what might be happening but am keeping schtum for now as there's not enough info.

Why did they part OP?

Teddybear45 · 16/08/2019 15:06

Pregnancy?

Musti · 16/08/2019 15:09

My ex's mother is a narcissist and this is the type of thing she has done many times. Whilst her children are together with someone making everyone's lives a misery and when they split up, she will court the exes. Stirring and creating drama.

Leglesslilly · 16/08/2019 15:12

I'm surprised/amused to hear pregnancy. I'm absolutely sure it's not that. Ds would have heard something on social media before now if that were the case. All I do know is that this dm took a shine to ds & really liked him. She made cakes & cute handmade xmas cards when the kids were dating.

That’s so weird, I hope there’s a good explanation, please update us OP.

75Renarde · 16/08/2019 15:17

@Musti Spot on.

It's either the Mum or the Mum is operating as the daughter's lieutenant.

The cake is a benign Hoover

Summerunderway · 16/08/2019 15:21

She is obviously coming to poison him.....

Summerunderway · 16/08/2019 15:21

Or maybe her cakes will be better than ex mil used to make.....

Not envy.

flamingpink · 16/08/2019 17:44

Maybe she’s just a really nice and thoughtful person who is practicing to go on GBBO? Just a thought...I’d personally never say no to cake and would highly encourage her to pop by with free food as often as she likes

PlaceYourItemInTheBaggingArea · 16/08/2019 18:53

She can pop by mine with cake too if she wants.

Weird though.....

Loveislandaddict · 16/08/2019 18:56

Does she know DS and ex have split up? Maybe she thinks they are still together.

Or its been sent to the wrong person.

Leglesslilly · 16/08/2019 19:05

I have an answer! And it's so innocent.. She's starting up a cake business. Dairy free, vegan cakes. She came around with half-a-dozen samples in their presentation boxes for us to try & asked us to recommend her to friends in the future if we liked what we sampled. That's it. She's just spreading the word as far and wide as she can - hence the weird contact out of nowhere. I would recommend them, they were actually very good.

HollowTalk · 16/08/2019 19:07

Oh that's a great update. She knows he'll help promote the cakes if he liked them years ago.

Drum2018 · 16/08/2019 19:11

Phew! So you're not a granny, as was my first thought on reading the op Grin

Summerunderway · 16/08/2019 19:18

Spreading the word is good..
Exmil could have wiped out counties if she had spread her cakes among the hoards..
