Hi all,

I am planning my wedding and my OH and I have booked the venue and put the deposit down for it. What I am wondering is, what's next? We are wanting to concentrate on getting the big things sorted first but I have no idea what they are and he is neither use nor ornament regarding that 😡.

I know this bit is all about our priorities but would just like some tips on what people did/would do next so I have a jumping off point to go from.

TIA lovely people

Xx

Colour scheme ... and how it will
Tie in with bridesmaids / flowers ... I had a simple red scheme and I made sure confetti was bright red too ... which made the photos pop ( awful colour for buying bridesmaid dresses from high street shop )

Cheaper bridesmaid dress can be brought from jjhouse ... you can order sample
Of colours to ensure match with any table runners / centre pieces you have ( you have no idea how many different shades there are of the same colour )

If centre pieces are included at venue marvellous .. if they cost extra then you can either go through a company or I found a lot of my stuff at the range ... cost about £8 a table that way which was a lot cheaper than my venue was quoting

Deciding if you want a band or dj

Photographer or videographer ... if your getting married in wedding season the good ones book up quick it’s also a big expense ... but start looking into it now as there are different styles ... we wanted natural shots and for only 3 hours of the day I didn’t want someone taking pictures while I was getting ready this with editing cost around £495 a full day was £1200 though you could take a punt at a newer photographer trying to establish themselves they come
Cheaper.

The dress!! I hated spending more than I would normally spend on a whole wardrobe got mine for about £600 brand new made to order ( not cheap but not the worst cost either )

Wed2be specialise with off the hanger dresses which I recommended to a friend and she got one from there which looked stunning on the day from about £195.

But if you want the wedding dress experience and you have a budget call around first most places I spoke to in Kent didn’t do anything less than £1200 😬 ( my shoes cost £4 from primark )

Invitations / will they tie in with order events theme .. partner self designed ours and vista printed them , or you can just wait for a sale at Clinton’s it’s just that part was important to my partners eye for detail.

Flowers and cake ! ( free tastings yummy!! )

Recommend creating a spread sheet with costings for all extras, set a budget after costing it all up to try not let it run away with you. I managed to get my bouquets 2 adult prides madden, 3 flower girls , 5 button holes , flowers for cake and top
Table and 9 large red roses for centre pieces for £295 ... I researched what was in season to try and keep cost down and I seemed to work.

If you want to do gifts for bridal and groom party set a budget

There also make up And hair if you want it done for you and again they book up fairly quick in peak season ... but perhaps start with with the top 3 get a clue on average costs for different parts and work that into your budget.

I found it fun in the end as long as you tackle it all a bit at a time it’s wonderful
When your visions comes off.

What is important to you most as a couple is key, and as long as you are happy with what you put in place. Everyone else will have a good time whatever x
