I’m still standing by Elton John. If nothing else the video will cheer you up (watch out for the young Bruno Tonioli!)

squee123 · 01/08/2019 23:26

Survivor, Destiny's Child. Classic

squee123 · 01/08/2019 23:30

Also depending on circumstances Hit 'Em up Style by Blu Cantrell

Titanium by Sia/David Guetta. Love that song.

Gloria Estefan - Anything For You

We are at our best when we give. Sometimes that means knowing it is OK to let go of someone we love.

Snackbitch · 01/08/2019 23:41

Don't hold your breath by Nicole Scherzinger.
She's a dick but its a great song.
Also 'Sorry' by Madonna (she really isn't)

ChickenTikkaTellMeWhatsWrong · 02/08/2019 00:19

Foo Fighter - Monkey Wrench
Especially the lyrics....

One last thing before I quit!
I never wanted any more than I could fit into my head!
I still remember every single word you said,
And all the shit that somehow came along with it!
Still, there's one thing that comforts me
Since I was always caged and now I'm free.

Liberating Smile

Cupoftea7 · 02/08/2019 00:35

Chumbawumba - I get knocked down.
DReam - Things can only get better
Anything by Bastille

Don't Speak by No Doubt. Honestly their whole Tragic Kingdom album got me through a breakup over 20 years ago.

'Tears dry on their own' by Amy Winehouse RIP ❤️

Iamthewombat · 02/08/2019 07:27

Another vote for ‘survivor’ by Destiny’s Child. Also, ‘independent women’.

There is also a song called “ciao!’ which was originally done by Lush, I think, but was covered by The Beautiful South. It’s a dignified ‘stuff you, I’m better off without you’ song and is uptempo and cheery.

Hecateh · 02/08/2019 09:31

Madonna - The Power of Goodbye
Carol King - It's too late Baby
Candi Staton - Young Hearts Run Free

Bloodycats · 02/08/2019 10:06

Imaysnapandfart · 02/08/2019 10:22

Anything by Sia - so many of her songs are empowering.

Mainly "Unstoppable", "Bird Set Free", "Alive" and if you just want a little cathartic cry "Big Girls Cry" and "Elastic Heart (Acoustic Version)"

YY to Titanium as well. And "Flames".

Charlie Puth "Left Right"

Fleetwood Mac "Go Your Own Way"

dellacucina · 02/08/2019 14:34

Smile, Lily Allen

AgentJohnson · 02/08/2019 14:36

Anything by Lizzo!

Babdoc · 02/08/2019 14:40

“Shut up and drive” by Chely Wright. Not to be confused with different, more recent, songs of the same name.
It’s a good one if you’re weakening and thinking of going back to a shitty partner you’ve left!
