my husband doesn't do flowers or cards for anniversaries, so I am very unbothered by it all after all this time but this year he wanted to go out for a meal to celebrate, great I thought! then he spent the whole first course reading a newspaper! shame there wasn't a candle on the table so I could have set it on fire!

???

Why didn't you just ask him to put down the newspaper? Or take it off him?

That is unbelievably rude. It's worse than occassionally playing with your phone which is bad enough.

Married for 35 years & you can't ask him to put the paper down & talk to you. WOW.

What a twat. What kind of establishment did he take you to where you can read a newspaper whilst eating the first course, Wetherspoons?
