Meet up for recently separated

There was a thread recently about starting a meet up in London for the recently separated. It was gone before I had a chance to join.

I feel like I am going crazy and really need to join something like it. Anyone interested?

I would be interested in some thing like this.

StarlightSparkle · 15/07/2019 22:16

Me too! I’m just outside London but only a short train ride away.

whatevertrever · 15/07/2019 22:35

I feel like it would be really good to meet other people going through the same. I am starting to feel bad on friends for going on about it. Also, would like to make some single friends as everyone else is still married.

I’m an hours train ride from London. I could do with single friends and to talk about ex

RainbowHash · 15/07/2019 23:05

I would! Need to widen my social circle for sure. Would love to chat with some who have gone through it too...

whatevertrever · 15/07/2019 23:34

Let's keep this thread going til there are enough people interested to arrange it

I don’t know anyone in rl going through the same thing either - I seem to be the first one in my circle to be going through a marriage breakdown. Would be great to chat to others in the same boat!

I have joined meet-up and they have a picnic in London next week for a divorce group I have joined. Maybe we should all go along to that.

I have joined loads of groups and starting tomorrow night I am going alone to loads of night out in London. They sound really fun, and I am done sitting at home thinking about the fact that he has found someone else so quickly! Time to have some bloody fun again and enjoy my life!

Anyone else fancy it?

What day is it on? It might be tricky for me as I’m already out in London next sat.

I think joining meet-up and going to lots of different things is a good idea though! I joined one here but most of the events are too far away as I live in a village and getting there and back is an issue.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

@Whatevertrever I've been looking at Meetup events but still haven't had the courage to go as I'm nervous about going on my own. Is it really ok? Is it normal to find others at these things who are also on their own? I'm London based so night checkout that on meet-up. I'd love to hear about some of the meet-ups you've been to?!

StarlightSparkle · 18/07/2019 17:45

I saw that the picnic is on a Tuesday which I could actually make. Is anyone else going to go? I’m a bit scared to going to things where I don’t know anyone either!

Stupidorparanoid · 18/07/2019 21:22

Hi we have a group that are in london and we have created a what's app group. You are very welcome to join us. We are meeting up soon and we provide support to each other.

whatevertrever · 19/07/2019 07:38

@StarlightSparkle I am going to the summer picnic on July 30 with The Divorce Club on Meet-up. You should definitely come. If it's not good you can just leave. But someone on another thread said they joined loads of meet-ups after divorce and it was the best thing she ever did. We can meet before and go together if you like.

I am going tonight to The Secret Garden Party at the Maddox Club in London. If anyone fancies coming too that would be fun.

I couldn't make it to the last one as my ex didn't turn up to collect his dog and take it to the vet like he said he would (or let me know he couldn't make it). I was so pissed off that I didn't feel like socialising.

The last three weeks he has said he is coming to visit his children and hasn't turned up or called! I really don't think he cares about them at all. He just wants to forget any of us ever existed. Also, his relationship with them is very awkward because they have lived with his bad behaviour, lies and empty promises. No doubt he is telling everyone that I am preventing him from seeing them as I am controlling.

@Stupidorparanoid What's the group called? I will join.

whatevertrever · 19/07/2019 07:40

@RainbowHash I will let you know how tonight goes.

I’m on holiday on 29 July but would be interested if there’s another one in Aug as kids will be away with STBXH.

Have a good time tonight and report back! I’m sorry your Ex is being such a shit :(
